saved from a horrible afternoon
i left work much later today than i wanted to b/c i had to wait for a kid to be picked up. i had a nasty encounter with the business manager, i'm unclear if i was being yelled at or not-certainly i should not have been, but i left work late and in a horrible mood. but several things brightened it up.
the first was walking over the gowanus canal noticing on one of the piling for (unclear what the piling are for they keep boats away from the bridge supports i think) up on top were a bunch of little figurines maybe 8cm tall that were arranged in rows of 3-4 depending on size and grouped by color, there was a 'big' sign in the middle of them but i couldn't read what it said, but it pleased me.
second i happened upon an artist studio open house. he does mainly fused glass and the stuff was really nice. although too pricey for me.
then in the same building was proteus brooklyn which is a gallery (i think unclear) which had a bunch of stuff organized around the theme of play and what that can mean-i think a few genres were not represented, but maybe my mind is just in the gutter. they had a lot of hand-made paper stuff that looked cool. int he background was the match museum, one person's personal museum and testament to the cold war and a lib ray of rescued books from stoop sales, free book boxes etc that are to be used for artist inspiration--its called reanimation. over all i was pleased
and then after the coop i bought a new pair of green tall boots-nothing like a little retail therapy when it gets dark at 5pm...
